Time Magazine names Donald Trump as Person of the Year
Time names a person that they feel has had the biggest impact on the world during that year. This year, it is Donald Trump.
President-elect Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at a conservative conference in Phoenix next week, addressing allies in battleground Arizona after he won the state in the presidential election.
Trump is set to address Turning Point’s “AmericaFest” event, the group said in an Instagram post. The four-day event runs from Dec. 19-22 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
“PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD TRUMP HAS JOINED THE #AMFEST2024 SPEAKER LINEUP!!” the Turning Point Action Instagram account wrote Thursday.
Turning Point is an Arizona-based conservative political group that worked to bolster Trump’s get-out-the-vote efforts in the 2024 election.
It wasn’t clear which day Trump will address the conference, or whether he’ll attend in person or deliver a video message.
Spokespeople for Turning Point and the Trump transition did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Trump won battleground Arizona on his way back to the White House last month. It was a notable victory because Trump narrowly lost Arizona in 2020 and spent years casting doubt on the results of that election.
Other speakers at the group’s annual gathering include incoming Trump “border czar” Tom Homan, Donald Trump Jr., GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk and Tyler Bowyer, Turning Point’s chief operating officer who has been charged in Arizona’s 2020 fake elector scheme, also are among the dozens of speakers.
General admission tickets to AmericaFest range from $50 for attendees under the age 15 to $100 for adults, according to the AmericaFest website. VIP tickets, which include access to a lounge and meet-and-greets, go up to $800. Admission for children ages 10 and under is free.
