Los Angeles – Rapper Lil Nas X returned to court this week as his legal team pursued a diversion program to potentially dismiss felony charges stemming from a chaotic encounter with police last summer.

Early on August 21, 2025, officers responded to reports of a man walking nude along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.[1][2] Video footage captured Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, strolling in traffic while dressed only in underwear and boots before removing them entirely.[3]

When police approached, prosecutors alleged Hill charged at them, injuring three officers in the process.[4] Authorities transported him to a hospital for evaluation of a possible overdose before booking him into jail on suspicion of battery.[1] His attorney later denied any drug involvement and described the episode as an aberration in his otherwise remarkable life.

Charges and Initial Court Steps

Prosecutors filed four felony counts against Hill: three for battery causing injury to a police officer and one for resisting an executive officer.[2] Conviction on all charges carried a potential sentence of up to five years in state prison.[4]
