Television has a funny way of proving networks wrong. A show gets canceled, fans make noise, and somehow the very same series ends up thriving somewhere else entirely. It’s a pattern that has repeated often enough in the streaming era that it’s worth looking at closely, one title at a time.
What follows are eight series that got a second life on a different network or platform, and in most cases, turned out better for it.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: from Fox to NBC

Brooklyn Nine-Nine ran on Fox for five seasons before being canceled in 2018, and NBC picked up the series just one day later. The turnaround was so fast it barely registered as a cancellation to casual viewers. Fans had flooded social media the moment Fox pulled the plug, and NBC’s quick response felt almost like damage control for the industry as a whole.
The show’s ratings stayed fairly steady after the move, with the last two seasons on Fox averaging 2.87 and 2.71 million total viewers compared to 3.11 and 2.69 million for the first two NBC seasons. What really stood out, though, was its digital footprint. NBC noted that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was one of its strongest digital performers, with 45 percent of its key demo audience coming from non-linear sources. The show went on to run three more seasons on NBC, closing out its run in 2021.
