After a summer season of delays, Good Time Nation Buffet is ready to open in September.

A restaurant that celebrates the American South may seem to be an surprising follow-up from the restaurateurs behind C As in Charlie (a fusion of southern tapas and Korean bar meals with “Seoul’sbury steak” and galbi jus) and Kisa (an ideal facsimile of a taxi-driver restaurant, or kisa sikdang, that flourished in Seoul within the Eighties), however all the companies are rooted within the homeowners’ collective biography. David Yun and Steve Choi met at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Georgia shortly after their households moved from Korea. “We wished to actually signify who we have been, our personal distinctive identification as Korean People who grew up in Atlanta,” Yun says. “Kisa was all about going again to our roots, to our childhood reminiscences of native eating places that we went to as younger kids in Seoul with our dads.” Now, with Good Time Nation Buffet — which they’re opening with one other accomplice within the eating places, Yong Min Kim — the group is revisiting their teenage years in early-aughts Atlanta, the period of Lil Jon, the Ying Yang Twins, and southern nation buffets.
