The brand new motion drama sends a terrific Mahershala Ali scurrying throughout Houston in the hunt for vengeance and breast milk for his child.

I can’t resolve if Your Mom Your Mom Your Mom is a love letter to Houston, the place it’s set, or a poison pen one. Within the film, which was written and directed by Bassam Tariq, the town is portrayed as a hideous, superb multicultural sprawl of strips malls, McMansions, and bedraggled residence complexes, powerlines and overpasses criss-crossing overhead like they’re holding the entire unimaginable affair collectively. At one other, we get a take a look at a regionally run porn website referred to as “Bang Akhs,” which excursions itself because the “#1 supply for halal licensed jizz.” The phantasm that there’s a transparent, brilliant line between the sacred and the profane is a very flimsy one right here, which is an issue for the movie’s hero, Latif (Mahershala Ali), a lately widowed father of three who’s struggling to keep up the division between his household life…
