Some sitcom characters have jobs that exist mostly as a punchline, a title card, or an excuse to explain why they’re always around for whatever plot the week demands. Their careers get mentioned in passing, referenced in a throwaway line, then quietly forgotten as the show settles into its real business of hanging out in apartments and coffee shops.
