Casting a sitcom is part science, part gut feeling, and part pure luck. For every iconic performance that feels like it was written in the stars, there’s a paper trail of near misses, turned-down offers, and last-minute swaps that could have completely changed the shows we grew up watching. According to casting director Ellie Kanner, Vince was “handsome and tall” and a “good actor,” but Matt ended up being a better fit for the part.
